Dog tartar removal tool

A tool for removing tartar from between the pads of the paws or between the pads and the floor or bedding. Most cat and dog owners notice and/or remark on the excessive amount of tartar between their pet's paws and between their paws and the floor or bedding. This tartar buildup is primarily caused by their grooming habits, which is most often directed to the legs. The best way to deal with the problem is to have your pet professionally groomed every 6 weeks or longer to remove this tartar build up, and to prevent further buildup by having your pet clean his own paws.

Why it is important to remove tartar from between the paws?

When your pet ingests food that contns bacteria, the bacteria will often grow on the surfaces of their mouth, their teeth and gum line, in between the pads of their feet and in between their paws and the floor or bedding. This accumulated bacteria can cause an increased tartar build up.

This tartar buildup not only looks unsightly but it also will cause a very uncomfortable odor.

It is a good habit for your pet to lick his paws frequently. As long as this is done he will not develop the excessive amount of tartar between his paws and between his paws and the floor or bedding.

What are the tools for removing tartar from between the paws?

There are many tools on the market for removing tartar from between the pads of your cat or dog. It is important to use a tool that is made to do the job. If you use a tool that is only to remove tartar it will not be suitable for removing tartar from between the pads of your cat or dog. I prefer the KONG Paw-O-Shaver.

When purchasing a tool for removing tartar from between the pads of your cat or dog make sure that it is made of metal. You will need to find a cat or dog groomer or veterinarian to give you your cat or dog a complete oral health examination and give you his professional recommendation. I always use Dr. David Wright’s recommendation for the oral health of my pets. If your cat or dog has a recommendation for his or her oral health follow it.

If you have any questions about tartar build up, please feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer any questions that you have.
